About Richard


As Senior Associate at Sage Law Firm, Richard (“Rich”) provides comprehensive guidance in a variety of areas, focusing on federal and state tax controversies, bankruptcy filings, and tax liability resolution.  Rich routinely advises startup companies in financial structuring, lender relationships, loan negotiations, and ongoing operations. Rich enjoys representing clients from all walks of life, both locally and nationwide.

Rich began his academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame, graduating with honors. He subsequently earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law.

After law school, Rich joined the international law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy where he contributed to projects in the emerging wind technology industry. His expertise and dedication resulted in a promotion to the firm’s Tokyo office, where he provided legal counsel to major corporations such as Hitachi, Mitsubishi, and Fuji Film.

Later in his career Rich joined Windjammer Associates, his family’s business, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions within the boating, marine, and seaport industries. His subsequent role at GQ Law, a boutique law firm in San Diego, expanded his ability to represent businesses and high net worth individuals across a spectrum of legal areas, including finance, taxation, bankruptcy, and estate planning. Rich showcased his expertise as a regular guest commentator, discussing tax and finance on a prominent television and radio show.

Since joining Sage Law Firm, Rich has enhanced the team’s tax advisory practice. He works closely with clients to resolve any manner of tax dispute with the IRS or state taxation agencies, facilitates reaching favorable resolutions with respect to tax liabilities, and provides comprehensive guidance through bankruptcy filings.

Rich is a proud homeowner in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego. Outside of his practice, Rich enjoys rounds of golf and rooting for his favorite Boston sports teams.
